Artist Featured On Avantgardejazzradio.com

The most recent artist I have discovered is a young jazz piano prodigy named Eldar Djangirov. He is originally from a country near Russia and has amazing technique and facility on the piano. Some of his music is on my radio broadcast. He is in his early twenties and Im sure he will have a long career ahead of him. He sounds like a combination of Art Tatum and Oscar Peterson both of whom im sure he has listened to extensively. Upon coming to the United States he settled in Kansas City home of the famous Charlie Parker and as I have recently found out Count Basie. Kansas City has a tradition of blues and jazz which the young Djangirov has now become a part of.Ive recently met two new amazing jazz artist (well at least new to me). Jason Moran is a jazz pianist originally from Houston Texas. He trained at the Manhattan School of Music. I could hear definate avant garde jazz influences in his music when he performed. These elements were used very tastefully and with a high degree of aestheticism and creativity. I also had the pleasure of hearing the music of jazz pianist Taylor Eigsti who I wouldn't classify as strongly avant garde but whose unique approach to the instrument with obvious modern as well as classic influences was simply a delight and joy to hear. This coupled with a strong sense of rhythm and superb technique make him a joy to listen to. I would definately recommend giving these two young gifted musicians a listen.

Recommended Discography

While in the bay area i had a chance to hear Jazz guitarist Julian Lage. Mr. Lage has studied classical as well as jazz and east indian music and the influences I hear coming from his instrument as well as the technical mastery are simply astounding to hear and watch. If you get a chance to hear him in person you wont leave the same person I assure you of that unless youre a rock or not a music lover. He has some wonderful instrumental duets with jazz pianist Taylor Eigsti.
